Koenig & Clinton is hiring a gallery manager

Koenig & Clinton seeks a dedicated gallery manager to begin a full-time, permanent position by mid-August. Candidates should display a high level of motivation, ability to effectively prioritize tasks, excellent organizational skills, and basic knowledge of the gallery and museum worlds.

A qualified candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in contemporary art, in the gallery’s mission, as well as a desire to contribute their best work within an interdependent team. Applicants should have a strong administrative background, preferably in fine arts or in a related field. Preference will go to candidates with at least two years of full-time experience in an art, design, or architecture. The ideal candidate works as well independently as they do within a team.

Primary responsibilities include:
Office Administration
Manages team calendar (and deadlines) in Microsoft Outlook
Generates client invoices and confirms payments
Registers accounts receivable and prepares accounts payable
Reconciles petty cash and tracks receipts
Researches and administers employee benefits
Arranges travel and accommodation for owner or for gallery artists on occasion
Marketing and Public Relations
Maintains and updates the gallery website
Manages and populates content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Formats and archives critical press reviews and artist’s bios
Updates press release in gallery guides and on related platforms
Exhibitions, Events, and Art Fairs
Coordinates exhibition and event preparations in conjunction with owner
Prepares art fair application materials and booth plans in conjunction with owner
Processes and archives artwork documentation
Formats and generates price lists, checklists, and fact sheets
Sales & Reception Assistance
Maintains and updates the gallery’s online sales platform (Artsy)
Fulfills press requests with owner and director of exhibitions
Occasional staffing of domestic and international art fairs
Receives and dispatches phone calls as well as voicemail messages and general email inquiries
Will receive visitors to the gallery and answers basic questions on occasion
Intern Management
Oversees the formatting and assembly of press materials for exhibitions and art fairs
Oversees the archiving of all exhibition, art fair, and administrative materials
Oversees the maintenance of tidy gallery appearance
Oversees the maintenance of contact databases

This position requires regular gallery attendance on select days during regular hours of operation (Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM to 6PM in the fall and winter, and Monday through Friday 10AM to 6PM in the summer). All team members work occasional nights for gallery-hosted events. The hours of this position can be made flexible to accommodate personal commitments or family schedules. Bachelor’s degree required, as well as two to three years of administrative experience and project management experience. Precise attention to detail and effective communication skills are key to the position, as the gallery associate interacts regularly with visitors, staff, collectors, vendors, and artists.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Lightbox, Artsy, ArtLogic, ArtBinder, Asana, and database experience is strongly preferred.
