Anoka Faruqee earned her M.F.A. from the Tyler School of Art in 1997 and her B.A. in painting from Yale University in 1994. In April, her work will be the subject of a solo exhibition at Secession, Vienna. Her work has also been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad at venues including: MoMA/PS1, Long Island City; Albright-Knox Gallery, Buffalo; Björkholmen Gallery, Stockholm; and Hosfelt Gallery, San Francisco; among others. Faruqee directs graduate studies in painting and printmaking at Yale School of Art. She lives and works in New Haven, CT.
Eva Díaz earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in art history at Princeton University. She is also the author of The Experimenters: Chance and Design at Black Mountain College (University of Chicago Press, 2015) and was awarded a 2012 Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Art Writers Grant to research her current book project about Buckminster Fuller’s legacy titled After Spaceship Earth: The Critique of Total Design in Contemporary Art. Her writing has appeared in magazines and journals such as Aperture, The Art Bulletin, Artforum, Art Journal, Art in America, Cabinet, The Exhibitionist, Frieze, Grey Room, October, and Tate Etc. Díaz is an associate professor, history of art and design, at Pratt Institute.
