MARIA HASSABI
Maria Hassabi (b. Cyprus 1973) is a New York-based artist and choreographer. Over the years she has developed a distinct choreographic practice involved with the relation of the body to the still image and the sculptural object. Her works have been presented worldwide in theaters, festivals, museums, galleries, and public spaces, such as ArtSonje, Seoul (2015); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2015); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2015); Australian Center for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2014); Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Brussels (2014); steirischer herbst, Graz (2014); Kunsthalle, Oslo (2014); The Kitchen, New York (2013, 2011, 2006); Performa, New York (2013, 2009); 55th Venice Biennale (2013); Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva (2012), amongst others. Hassabi is a recipient of the 2015 Herb Alpert Award, the 2012 President’s Award for Performing Arts from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, is a 2011 Guggenheim Fellow, and received a 2009 Grants to Artists Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. She holds a BFA from California Institute of the Arts.
ALBERT HERTER
Albert Herter (b. 1980, San Francisco) holds a BFA in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute, where he focused primarily on video, installation, and performance. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Partisan Gallery, San Francisco and San Francisco City Hall. He has also participated in group exhibitions at: Art in General, New York; Derek Eller, New York; Spiral Gallery, Los Angeles; and Arthouse, McAllen, TX. He will have his first solo exhibition in New York at Koenig & Clinton in 2017. In the Curtyard: Orchestrated Reduction of the Fantasm, recently published by Comfortable On a Tightrope and Museums Press, features the artist’s drawings and writings. His drawings have also been featured in The Third Rail and Lacanian Ink. Herter lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
MILJOHN RUPERTO & ULRIK HELTOFT
Miljohn Ruperto (b. 1971 Manila, the Philippines) received his M.F.A. from Yale University in 2002 and his B.A., Studio Art from University of California, Berkeley in 1999. Recent exhibitions featuring his work include: The As-if Principle., Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein, Austria; 2014 Whitney Biennial,Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Janus, Dunlop Art Gallery, Regina Public Library, Saskatchewan, Canada; Ulrik Heltoft and Miljohn Ruperto, Voynich Botanical Studies, Thomas Solomon Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Made in L.A., The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA; and Picture Industry (Goodbye to All That), organized by Walead Beshty, Regen Projects, Los Angeles, CA. Ruperto lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
Ulrik Heltoft (b. 1973 Svendborg, Denmark) received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from Yale University in 2001 and studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Secession, Vienna; Aarhus Center for Contemporary Art, Aarhus; Raucci Santamaria, Naples; Willfried Lentz Gallery, Rotterdam; Andersen´s Contemporary, Copenhagen; Kirkhoff, Copenhagen; and CPH Kunsthal, Copenhagen. Heltoft’s work has been featured in notable group exhibitions at: Whitechapel Project Space, London; Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein, Austria; Whitney Museum for American Art, New York; Museum Kunst der Westküste, Alhersum/Föhr; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp; New Museum, New York; Murray Guy, New York; Binz39, Zürich; and participant inc, New York. Heltoft is currently an Associate Professor at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, Laboratory for Photography. The artist lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
