Paul Ramírez Jonas

Biography

Paul Ramírez Jonas (b. 1965, California) received his M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI in 1989. His work has been the subject of exhibitions at: the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston; New Museum, New York; The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art, Austin; The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, UK; and Pinacoteca do Estado, São Paolo. Additionally his works have been featured at the 53rd Venice Biennale, 28a Bienal de São Paulo, 6­th Shanghai Biennale, and Park Avenue Armory. He is the recipient of a number of awards including: National Endowment for the Arts Inter-Arts exhibition grant (1991), Howard Foundation Fellowship (2009), and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant (2009), among others. His work resides in numerous public collections internationally including the New Museum, New York; Itaú Cultural, São Paulo; Malmö Konstmuseum, Sweden; and The Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art, Austin. Ramírez Jonas is represented by Koenig & Clinton, Brooklyn, and Galeria Nara Roesler, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, New York. The artist lives and works in New York.
