A.L. Steiner (b. 1967, Miami) utilizes constructions of photography, video, installation, collage, collaboration, performance, writing and curatorial work as seductive tropes channeled through the sensibility of a skeptical queer eco-feminist androgyne. She is MFA faculty in visual arts at Bard College, Yale University, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Steiner is based in Los Angeles and New York, and is featured in permanent collections such as the Brooklyn Museum, NY; Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College, Annandale-On-Hudson; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; and Museum of Modern Art, New York. Steiner has been awarded a 2017 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists award, a Fall 2017 Class of Berlin Prize Fellowship, and a 2015 Tiffany Foundation Biennial Award.
